What should I expect at Velocity Rehabilation?

You should expect to be treated one-on-one in a welcoming, fun, and professional atmosphere. My goal is that you feel heard, feel included in your care, and feel empowered to take what you learn in sessions out on the road, trail, track, or treadmill with you when you leave. Each session will include a 3D gait analysis, unless contraindicated due to injury, to provide real time feedback on form and progress.

What should I wear to a session?

You should wear clothes and footwear you feel comfortable running in. The Helix system is marker based so shorts that are more fitted to minimize marker movement are preferable for more accurate results. Fitted shorts provided by runDNA are available and can be worn over typical running shorts for the gait analysis portion of the session.

Do I need a physician referral?

You do not necessarily need a referral. If you are seeking pervention and performance services these are seen as "wellness" services by many insurances and do not require a prescription. However, if you are seeking PHYSICAL THERAPY services for the treatment of pain and/or injury we are subject to New York state direct access mandates, which limit physical therapy treatment without a physician's referral to 10 visits or 30 days whichever comes first. In addition if you are seeking to submit a "superbill" to insurance toward an out-of-network deductible your insurance may require a physician's prescription.

Do you accept insurance?

The short answer is no. Velocity Rehabilitation is private pay/out-of-network. This means payments are required by each patient/client via cash, check, or credit card up front. That being said, Velocity Rehabilitaiton has the capablity to provide a "super bill" for patients who wish to submit these payments towards their out-of-network deductible. It is encouraged to contact your health insurance provider directly to discuss specific out-of-network and/or wellness benefits as they may differ.

Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay for services at Velocity Rehabilitation?

An HSA and FSA can be used to pay for services that are considered "medically necessary" by insurance companies. That means if you are seeking PHYSICAL THERAPY for the treatment of a current injury you may be able to use these benefits. Unfortunately for other services such as screens and prevention/performance packages do not fall into this category. It is strongly recommended to speak directly to your health insurance company prior to appointments to determine what benefits are available to you.

Do you accept Medicare/Medicaid?

Unfortunately if you are seeking PHYSICAL THERAPY for the treatment of pain and/or injury medicare/medicaid prohibits the use of cash based/out-of-network providers. However, if you are seeking prevention and performance services, considered as wellness services that insurance would not cover, we may be able to see you.

Does Velocity Rehabiliation only treat runners?

While the management and treatment of running related injuries is the focus here at Velocity Rehabilitation anyone seeking private pay/out-of-network physical therapy services is welcome. Please contact us directly on the contact page for additional information on scheduling and (non-running) rates.
